Standard Electric Dog Fence System with regular wire (1, 2 or 3 collars)

The dial on the transmitter box is set too high. The dial on the transmitter box determines the range between the wire and the collar i.e. at what point the collar will start to emit a tone, vibration and shock. Please note the dial on the transmitter box has nothing to do with the intensity of the shock emitted.

If you have the collar set at level 1, it will emit a tone only. You need to change the settings on your collar. The collars has 5 increasing levels of shock intensity. Level 1 is tone only and level 2-5 is increasing levels of progressive correction. To change the intensity hold the power button down gently release your finger and the red LED will flash twice to show level 2 if you want to increase to level 3 follow procedure above. The collar cycles between levels 1-5.

•Boundary Layout less than 80m:

If you are using less than 80m of wire it causes the system to be unstable as the safe area is to small.



•Boundary Layout 80m+:

If you are using 80m or more of wire, there could be underground or overhead electrical cables or telephone cables which are interfering with the collar. The boundary wire needs to be laid at least 3 metres away from any underground or overhead electrical wires and telephone cables.



•Angular Layout
You cannot have any angles in your layout. All angles need to have a smooth round radius, approximately 1 – 3m wide.

If you are using more than 150m in your layout the additional wire needs to be the same wire purchased from Pet Control HQ. If you are using wire of a different thickness and composition this will cause the system to be unstable and could result in the transmitter burning out over time. We will not warranty the transmitter box if you use wire purchased elsewhere.



The wire needs to be placed at least 3m away from any solid metal objects i.e a metal shed, a solid metal fence, a trailer, etc.

There is no need to bury the wire. The wire can be placed above the ground inside a conduit to protect the wire. We recommended using either a garden hose pipe or poly pipe as a conduit. The wire can also be mounted to an existing fence as long as the fence in not made of solid metal sheeting (i.e. color bond/zinc fence) because it interferes with the signal emitted by the transmitter box . However, you can use a chicken wire mesh fence or barbed wire fence. If a solid metal fence is used the wire must be placed at least 3m away from the fence. The wire can be placed underground however it needs to be placed between 10cm to 15cm below the ground.

The transmitter box needs to be placed at least 3m away from any major electrical appliances i.e. refrigerator, air conditioning unit, antennae cable, etc.
You cannot place the transmitter box directly on metal i.e. a metal shed as metal insulates the signal emitted from the box. You need to have a barrier between the transmitter box and the metal shed. We recommend using at least a 10cm block of wood and placing the transmitter box on the wood and the wood on the metal shed. The wood will insulate the transmitter box.



Note: The transmitter box is an electrical device and needs to be placed indoors or under cover away from any of the outside elements

The system will not work in below zero conditions.

Pet Control HQ Standard Electric Dog fence System:



•The system has four levels of manual correction.

•the collar is waterproof (IPX6 rated) and the strap is made of nylon.

•The system covers up to 10 acres.

•The collar battery is rechargeable

•The wire used for this system can be 1mm thick or 1.6mm thick. Our wire is much thicker than other wires sold with an electric dog fence but marginally thinner than our deluxe wire. The 1.6mm wire is robust and durable. We only recommend the 1mm wire if you are good with DIY as the 1mm wire can be tricky to work with.

1. Disconnect your entire cable loop network from the transmitter box terminal points and connect only a short test loop of leftover new cable, say 20m -30m



2. Turn the transmitter dial up to 5.



Test your collar using the test bulb provided (included in your kit) and walking towards the wire with the collar on and set at level 2-5 and using the test bulb on the metal prongs. You should see the test bulb light up 3. when you near the wire, indicating the collar is shocking. Walk away from the wire and then back towards it to see the collar react each time you near the wire.




4. If all works fine on the short loop test, connect your existing loop cable network and do the same tests by testing various loop sections.



5. If the test bulb does not light up, please move the transmitter box to another location and redo the above steps.

We don't sell wireless dog fence systems as they are very unreliable, and you cannot customize the system to suit your yard. The only shape you can make with a wireless system is a circle which for most yards isn't practical. You need to install the wire to define the boundary for the dog fence function. However, the remote dog trainer is a wireless system and portable too, so great for off-leash training, a play at the park, neighborhood walks, going on vacation.

The distance the collar triggers should be the same from both sides of the boundary wire outside in and inside out.
